Hello,

I just busted my diff, I have a BA ute.

Any ideas on how much and where is a good place in sydney to buy a new diff?

I am about to start reading my ford falcon repair book do you think it will be very hard to change?

Changing the diff on the solid axle rear ends is easy. IRS models (sedans) it's a royal PITA.

Ask them where their parts are made and what they replace, some places use chinese parts and cut down on some of the work so they have a lower cost. Just up to you if you want to pay more for quality and have a better diff that will last longer or if you couldn't care less and just want a cheap diff.

hey mate, i have a m78 open centre IRS diff here if you need it. diff gears should be the same. you can have it for $250 plus postage.. with postage and fitting you'll still be saving alot by the looks of it.

send me a PM if you're interested, it'll save me trying to find the thread again

The housings are different (of course), but AFAIK the internals are interchangeable. M78 to M78, or M86* or M86.

*XR6T, XR8, and FPV get the M86 (stronger, and different LSD mechanism).

You can get a LSD in the M78 as well (XR6's). Just they use different mechanisms (clutch vs. cones or the other way around I forget) to the M86.
