i get the clunk too, only when i back out of my driveway also..

i too have the dodgy idle and after researching have come to the conclusion it is the tps sensor.. when the car does the dodgy idle (mine does it when coming to a stop at trafic lights with the clutch in) take it to ford without turning it off and get them to connect their scan tool thingo and it should show them the error. apparently the error is cleared when the car turns of so keep him running!!

im interested in this tsb for the clunk xpression.. any chance you can post up the tsb, or give us a number so i can try an get a hold of it?

one guy on another forum had the clunk, and it ended up being a cracked front x member!! have checked mine out and could not see a problem with that though!

the fix for the steering shudder is a different pipe for the fluid im told.. the replacement is off an xf im lead to believe, thats the only fix for the shudder i have heard of.

best of luck!!
