cant say i have driven it on the open road, but when my dad has used the sequential (spelling) it was great, good take off even in third from a stand still.
-- or not... i know for a fact that BA's won't even let u select second from a standstill, let alone 3rd... 2nd u can get basically once the car is moving... and 3rd at (i think) 20km/hr-ish...

magna's let u start in 2nd, but even a 5 speed magna wont let u start in 3rd...

Yeah xpression your right you can't select third or second for that matter when the car is stationery.
I have found when driving that for taking off, its best to slide it left and leave it in sport not activating manual mode. For driving hard around town its best to change manually, it makes a big difference. If you select the right gear and nail it, it pulls pretty hard because the box doesn't have to think and drop down a gear. Definitely a noticeable difference.

Does anyone know if motor or wheels use the manual or sport mode when testing vehicles, it might explain the variances i've seen with the times?

well from what i have heard it looks very likely that the next model will have a 6 speed auto which in the torque of the turbo and v8 would just be awsome god with that who would want a manual.

id wait for that
