hi guys, as probably none of you know, i have a BA XT now, just a standard 6cyl, and its got a wierd and f@cking annoying creaking sound coming from the LHR end... only happens when the spring has to compress ie. going over a bump, around a corner etc, although sometimes it happens just by me getting out of the car.
Now, the mechanic said that the rubber seat my LHR spring sits in could have a split in it, causing the noise has anyone heard of this happening before? or does anyone know what else could cause it? its loud enough to hear from 100m away and its embarrassing to drive it like that.... cheers

Hey Mate,
Had a knock in my BA in the rear end every time i went over a bump, took it to the mechanic, put some new shocks on and it has been sweet ever since, sits a bit higher at the back now too. Hope this helps.

its not a clunk though, its a creaky sound, almost like the sound of the brakes when you move off really slowly, if that makes sense, and ive just had 4 new rotors put on it which didnt make the noise go away.
ive got no clunks in my driveline at all...

I hadn't heard of that personally until last night when a mate who works at Ford mentioned they have been doing alot of these spring seat rubbers lately as they do split and cause vibrations and noises. Could also be the blade bushes are rooted. Mine are at 50,000km, and I'm doing them tomorrow night. |

67RCE, the handbrake was just fixed, i thought that was also part of the problem but it dosent seem to be.
arm, that could be a possibility, seeing as my BA has 301,000km on the clock....

Mine are more dead from the power that goes through them. These poor rubber bushes weren't meant to be used on the turbos.
But I do know the blade bushes are being replaced on alot of the cars as they get on in age. They seem to control the fore and aft moment of the wheel, and they are heavily voided... So it doesnt take much to stretch and/or rip them apart. |

it could be your control arm bush, my fairmont had this problem, i just used a bit of locktight and a hydrolic press to push it back into place. but you could just get one from the wreckers and replace it.

Shouldn't cost you mega bucks dude, and atleat its not a holden, you woulda bin a few more g's outa pocket and still have the same problems, Anyway it may just need re seating. Which is what mine needed (bush was fine) but yeah that does cause the noise. Although imbarassingly mine still had some noise that I couldn't figure out, till I moved the spare and found a huge a** bolt was rollin round lol

Control Blade bushes...
f**k wow. My car feels like a car, rather than a lard box on wheels. If you haven't done them, just do it for the sake of it. $185 and 30 mins per side... f**k wow! |
