Not happy with the quality of the interior, couple of crappy plastic things have snapped with just normal pressure, Pain in the a**. Ah well..
Ill hang onto it for a couple of years and go from there.

I was putting a switch in for future fog lights, not much pressure was used to unclip 1 part of the trim and it snapped. I have a steering wheel cover and the steering wheel is still wearing out.

BA/BF are pretty dodge, out first BA has all the usual stuff go wrong, including the fuel tank leak. The BF dad currently hs for company car is suffering as well...gearbox noisy and clunky, handbrake does not feel solid at all (despite actually holding the car quite well), the silver 'look' plastic panels on the door inserts have creased.

Im glad I bought my AU.

well 1 time, my car was on a slope. I parked and got out. Was getting shopping out of the car and all of a sudden it lurched backwards about 20cm. The handbrake had let go and luckily, the car was in park. I have to pull the handbrake up every single click to hold the car on a slope. And it has already been adjusted in the past.

So in the interim, is it true that you can replace the 2 pinion BA diff with and EL 4 pinion as they are stronger and wont be prone to probs?

i had no problems with my ba xr8 i do skids in it all the time,
xr8 UTE has heavy duty diff there is 2 diffs if you look at the the diff
from underneath if the diff has fins underneath it its a heavier duty one.

and all cars have little creaks and knocks in stearing, its expected with 18' wheen with 235 tires on them and you doin a dry turn lock to lock when stopped.

get in a vy ute they ride like bucket full of rocks, they are not mercedes, and some ppl get a lemons, this is a ford site so we only hear ford f**k ups, goto holden site full of faults,

if we decide to do skids and abuse our cars this is what we get.

only for povo pack xr6s and xts etc
xr6turbo and xr8 and fpv are 31 spline
Non performance fords will be able to use a e series lsd as they are 28 spline

I just got my parents BA. Parked it on the drive way with the hand brake on, went to put it drive so i can clean the shifter then the car rolled back about 1 meter.. not happy.

So does this mean that the AU is one of the best built ford cars?

As i was cleaning my car ( BA ), i realised that there are some spots where rust is starting to come through. Also saw that the gas struts in the boot was contacting the paint and scraping the paint off. While cleaning the interior it seemed that ford just wanted to off load the cars as applying little pressure, the plastic started bending.

Hopefully i dont have to spend no money in repairs as i spent to much on the el.
