Hey all,

Just about to start a manual conversion from a BTR to a t5 on my 2005 BA mk2. Have picked up everything i need for the conversion including a manual ECU (with abs) and loom. I’ve heard that because I’m dropping in a new ECU that I may need to get it flash tuned at Ford in order for the car to start due to the immobiliser not matching.

Would I be able to either:

a) call out a locksmith to install or match a new key to the new ECU

b) find a way to bypass the immobilser to get the car running

Cheers

you will need to find someone who can reconfigure your system so everything 'talks' to the PCM [ECU] & it's actually not hard to do or see ford. it's not 'flash tuned'..

a]- keys don't work that way.

b]- there's really nothing i know of that would help your car accept the new PCM other than FORScan [which i use].

i have seen on facebook that there 'some' people who can do this instead of ford. i'm not suggesting that this is the way to go ... just mentioning another avenue to your problem being fixed. i cannot guarantee what their work is like tho so don't assume i am.

Cheers

Ps. with mine i have done the PCM/ICC & keys, with the ICC being done so far on mine two maybe three times & twice on hers. have also checked three ICC's & then made two ICC's [working bits] into one good working unit.

Cheers for the help man.

Any idea how much/how long it’d take ford to get it sorted?

no probs re help. re ford - best ask them as i have NO idea. it's now an 'old car' so you 'may' have some fun finding a ford dealer that can/will do this for you. best shop around before changing over. also find out if anyone online [say facebook & ford related groups] is willing to do it/help out.

Cheers
