Firstly, I have no idea about hydraulic clutches... lol
But my clutch disengages and engages very early (only have to push the pedal in a fraction of the way) From this point to the floor is very soft and easy to push... and because it grabs so late the clutch doesn't ease on and its hard to shift smooth... I didn't think much of it until i drove another manual BA and it felt very firm and nice... and when i hopped back in my car I pushed the pedal to the floor with ease and it felt broken lol... Does anyone here have knowledge on this kind of thing? Thanks.

hey mate, you can bleed the lines easily enough, but it sounds like a pressure plate..
Have you had the clutch out at all? If so, was the pressure plate pre set? It has to be pre set if you want to have it work properly. Try bleeding it tho, the bleed nipple is on the passenger side of the bellhousing. You might have to bleed it a few times, and MAKE SURE YOU DON'T RUN OUT OF FLUID.. top it up each time, or every second time.. Cheers, MaTTe

How likely is it that bleeding it will fix it?
Has anyone had this problem before?

The fluid gets old and dirty as f**k.. its easy enough to bleed it, and for the price it costs for fluid its almost not worth NOT doing.. It doesn't take long to do, but if you gain nothing atleast you know you have clean fluid in there.

is it special fluid or just brake fluid?

I would use what it says in your car manual if it hasn't been done before. You don't want to be mixing different fluids no matter what system it goes into even a hydraulic clutch.

Yeah mate it's brake fluid, you're best off getting enough of it to completely flush the clutch lines, eg don't stop until you see new fluid coming out.. so really it doesn't matter what type of fluid you have, but you are best off going with the manufacturers recommendatiuons..

Replaced the fluid yesterday, and it was filthy... like chocolate coloured... and had crap in it, looked like rust or something...
Car is much nicer to drive now, can putt around slowly in 2nd without kangarooing  lol
I used to have to push the clutch in and roll around carparks... Thanks so much for all your help guys
