I have a problem, i purchased a (proposed) LSD 3.45 of ebay. according to a workshop manual it should have a tag on filler LSD use high performance lubricante..mine don't, but it has a lsd sticker on the side.
Is there a way to check wheather it is a LSD or not...i was told LSD driveshaft splines were different to a standard diff. will this verify it or some other way of checking before i fit it Thanks guys Moot

Was this for a sedan? because they don't have axles per se. They have drive shafts and there is no difference except for V8's and Turbos.
It would appear that the diff you got, if it is for a sedan, is a M78 diff and from what I read, has the tag on the side.? Quote: Conventional Drive-line System M86 differentials are not fitted with a metal tag. For LSD units, a metal tag marked “SPIN RESISTANT DIFF. USE APPROVED LUBRICANT ONLY” is attached under the filler plug on the rear cover.

Thanks Papa Smurf
yes it is a 78 and yes driveshafts( age showing). It does have a sticker on side with lsd on it but it sure don,t look like any LSD diff i looked at lately with big clutch pack etc. i realise these have some sort of cone setup put is there any way of clarifying if it is a LSD without dismantling it and pulling apart the hemisphere...just looks like a plain ol diff to me Thanks Moot

They are hard to tell apart and the 78 series doesn't have clutches, they are like the AU diff.
