Hello Wise Ford people :)
Ive got a 2003 BA XT
The transmission is on its way out, high pitch grinding noise in low gears and sometimes doesnt kick straight into gear until you rev her a bit.
Just wanting some advice on if its cheaper to buy a 2nd hand trans or to get mine reconditioned?
Is the transmission something you can do your self at home if i was to buy another one to swap out?
Does anyone have a BA 4 speed for sale?
Thanks :)

Jakob

You can probly get a2nd hand box for 400 or so and yea they are ezy enough to do yourself. I done mine after a few too many burnouts. Lol.

Or a rebuild be like 2g. But the catch is you don't know how long the second handie will hold on for..

the best advice i would give would be to have it reconditioned that way it's all new and covered again, mum had hers replaced in the xr6 a while ago it only just lasted out the year b4 it started to give us trouble.

How were you able to jack the car up high enough to fit the new one underneath?
Cheers,
Jakob

drive the front onto some sturdy ramps and jack up the back end with a trolley jack and stuck a stockie onder each back tyre incase it came down.

then ya gotta slide the box under. lol. its a tight fit but ive done it.

either that or pay someone 500 to remove and refit a box.. i thought stuff that. one weekend a mate and a few tinnies and shes all good.
