Just jacking up and wiggling the wheel generaly means bearings are loose. The ball joint should be tested by putting a crow bar under the tyre when jacked up, and lifting the wheel and have someone under the car to look for play.

However, Pedders is a good place to go for a $14 (I think) f/e check

Pedders ive found to be a rip off!! got a quote for components to lower my car (springs, struts, shocks and camber kit) all up trade they say! $919.00. Went to bursons it came down to $675 with Kings and Monroe. Called a mate in Stawell and im getting it all for $604. Basically get the check done at Pedders but get the parts else were and do it yourself.

Have had no issues with the Pedders checks ... much better than places that do the front end checks.

I had a similar clunk ... but I had a power steer rack that was stuffed and needed replacing.

Best to get it checked out and get a report on it.

with the check though, is there any way they say that we can't let you drive it out because it's unsafe, therefore becomming committed to get the work done there?

i've thought about getting the cheap check but don't want them to do the work...

- anyone had this happen before?

I have had a couple of my cars done there .... they gave me a report and told me I NEEDED several things done on my car immediately. I said "Thank you for letting me know about it ... I'll get it done when i have funds to pay for it. And I took it to my preferred repairer to get the parts fixed at a later date.

They handed me my keys back and advised not to drive the vehicle much.

They cannot keep your car ... otherwise you can get the police around there and charge them.

But I have never had an issue with Pedders or even Jax for this matter when it comes to safety checks ... they get you to sign a waiver form stating they have informed you of urgent repairs and you opted to drive out of there .... just so they are covered in case of equipment failure on your vehicle.
