mine don't make any noise, they are out of a R31 Skyline. Its probably just luck if you get one that's noisy or not.

Around the $650 mark i was quoted for a brand new set...........Apparently "Strange" make then for Borg Warners Just for the gears that figures pretty much spot on. The gears are either Strange or Richmond IIRC. but my comment was at the typical cheapskate e series owner. I had to leave it open as the OP may be willing to spend the money on new gears.

LSD is seperate. Best to lay your hands on a LSD diff and get the gears fitted. Overhaul the diff as well, cost will get up around the $700 mark plus gears. You could try and track down Pintara diff gears, Manual were 3.7 and Auto was 3.9 I believe. Better check that, it is one or the other .

They are all BW75 gears. EB2 onwards generally got a BW78, some got BW75's. MOST gears WILL be noisy and enough to drive you up the wall. IMHO, and this is just MY OPINION, buy brand new gears is the way to go.

hmmm if I can get a lsd diff with what ever ratio then buy the diff gears that I want and put the gears in myself and reshim it then take theold one out and f**k it off will probably be the best way too go. what else do they do when they overhaul a diff?

With an E series motor and an X series, forget the 3.45's with a manual if you want serious work out of 1st gear. Been there done that. With a manual there is nothing but wheel spin and lack of getting any serious boost. With an x series even 2nd gear is how ya going. 3rd is where it is at but with a t5 they're weak as shiit. With an E series you may get a little more boogey in 2nd but with the BA motor, you have more revs and better breathing hence why a 3.45 will work. You don't have that with an E series, well not as good. Going a 3.23 wont help much at all either. 3.08's is damn perfect. This is from doing it before. Currently have a C4 with E series and 3.5 gears and a 3500 stallie. It pulls the numbers in heavy car but she's getting tightened up. As mentioned. NA 6 manual in the e series3.45's are fine and sensible 3.9's if you must with an auto 3.7's are good Turbo manual 3.08 Turbo Auto go 3k stallie and 3.5 gears

If you want to do it yourself, don't come back whinging when the diff is completely stuffed due to incorrect shimming, crush, mesh patterns and all.

wasnt somebody complaining that they kept busting their diff on here recently and he was running the early pintara/skyline diff gears and someone can correct me if im wrong but there were people writing on there that his problem was that he was running pintara gears which were weaker and the power and thrashing was fudging them, if i find it ill post up the link
