Hi guys, Ive had my ED XR6 for a few months now and have found the ride quality to be a bit too harsh for my tastes. What are the best shock aborbers I can install to improve ride quality?

Just put Monroe GT gas shockies in it, the valving is less dramatic than the Tickford spec Monroes fitted by Ford. besides the are about 1/3 of the price of replacement Genuine Tickford ones.
I have EL XR6 shocks in my 88EA, the were slightly softer than the EF XR6 ones. EF ones were yellow in colour & the EL ones were dark blue. If i remember the ED ones were yellow too. hope this helps. cyaslater.

They are good for the money spent, good warranty too.
You could fit Koni's if you got the cash, then stuff around with the valve settings till you get what comfort level you want or are satisfied with. Another thing that makes a harsh ride is very low profile tyres, bugger-all side wall flex for comfort, good handling though. Bilstein shocks are even dearer again, i think.

Variable rate springs are the go, comfort at the height required,(super low, low, std, raised), when you load up, they can handle the weight, and chuckin it through the twisties, still handle good.
