my EF has just gone from dobinson (superlow) to king (low), i had to lift the car up to pass a roadworthy inspection to sell the car.

and it was the biggest backward step ever.

car when from a nice riding comfy car to drive, and has turned into a kidney killer, how people put up with king springs i don't know.

but for a daily driver, i'll never fit lowered springs again. stock springs all the way

How where the dobinson springs overall?

Why u say standard springs for a daily? even XR height or lows?

the dobinsons are damn fine spring. ride hight was tough looking and ride quality was the best i've ever driven (for a lowered spring)
Firm but still soft enough to soak up the bumps.
did a few 5 to 6 hours long trips in the car and my GF could sleep in the car while i was driving.

stock spring for a daily for me from now on. because of the comfort factor.
i guess i've just grown out of 'it'.

On that note i have lifted GQ patrol for weekend play and i'm building an escort race car. so i don't realy need a sporty daily driver

Im considering XR height nothing lower than that as its my daily and my springs and shocks are not that crash hot and i use my car all day everyday for work so i want a nice ride, not really looking at handling side of things but its a bonus.

i'd see if you can find a set of factory XR6 springs to use.

the xr hight (low) king springs are rock hard

Thats what im trying to get my head around as there are alot of speed humbs in Sydney inner west LOL And some drive ways are kinda steap and i scrape it here and there.

I measured my car and it seems that the springs have sagged and there sopposed to be Front 395mm and Rear 410mm but mine is Front 380mm and Rear 395.

So obviously it has sagged abit all around by 15mm, so would another 15mm drop would be that bad? plus probably a little more as ive heared springs settle in???
stock springs and air bags, ive seen your pot holed roads, speed humps and manhole road patches, but a daily driver doing 5ks in traffic, scccchweeet

The roads in Sydney inner west suck

Im leaning towards Lovells or Custom height Kmac. Whiteline sound like a great product but at 360mm from hub to gaurd its getting abit daily unfriendly for me.

A post from a member on boosted falcon

I've tried Lovells, Kings, Whiteline, and Pedders springs.

In order of preference I'd rate them like this:
1. Whiteline 8.5 to 9 out of 10
2. Pedders 7.0 to 8.0 out of 10
3. Kings 5.0 to 6.5 out of 10
4. Lovells 3.5 out of 10

What I noticed was that the Whiteline springs gave a decent ride and made it feel like the car was more capable on the road; a very good compromise of factory comfort with superior handling. The Pedders were very similar but made the car feel a tad sloppier and a bit bouncier. Kings are all over the joint - bouncy, inconsistent ride height but are okay if you are going for a budget install [I think a lot of people vote for what they own here]. I was expecting a lot from the Lovells but was really disappointed in them. I found them very soft and floaty... Not to mention the difference in height in the front and rear with Superlows - one could be mistaken that the front was on Superlows and the rear on tow-spec. A lot of spring sets seem to do this, just not as drastic. An option is to go one step lower in the rear i.e. Low springs in the front and Superlow springs in the rear.

Physically the Whitelines weighed a lot and had very thick coils, again similar to Pedders but from what I recall the Pedders coils are slightly thinner. Lovells were very light in weight with coils as thick as a pube. Kings fit in the middle somewhere.

There is also another mob who repack Kings and sell them as their own but I forgot who. Some cracker tried selling me them when I specified Lovells. In hindsight I should've taken them anyway.

Luckily Aaron cleared up the Kings making Whiteline springs, because they are different when you compare them; physically and on the road.

Just don't rely on springs to determine the comfort and handling. As has been mentioned your shocks will make a very big difference in handling and how the car feels on the road. Konis (and I assume Bilsteins) make the car feel like it is sturdy on the road, whilst cheaper alternatives make it feel sketchy, unpredictable, and often floaty. Then you have wheel size, tyres, alignment, bushes, and other suspension components that are going to all contribute to all facets of comfort, handling, and 'feel'.

If you want it done properly and a good compromise all 'round without it being too expensive, I'd allocate about $1k for a Pedders pack: low springs, camber kit, new shocks and maybe a few bushes replaced. Alternatively you could be patient and try get everything second-hand.

And finally, the LPG tank will have a small bearing on your ride height.
