My car handles like crap. I want it low and tight like it should be. It's an EF GLi (country-pack, yee-har!) and I'd rather it handle more like a sports/performance car as much as possible...

So, what are the good bits I need? Recommendations on brands/models?

I'll be getting it done at Pedders Suspension because they let me pay for it on my terms, unlike every other mob out there.

If your finances are good, I'd recommend a full set of Nolathane bushes.

Bilsteins shocks, whiteline springs and superpro bushes then judge whether you want a swaybar or not.

If you can afford it id either go with koni or bilstein short stroke shocks all round with probably dobinson superlows all round. Get superpro bushes fitted through-out and a larger diameter sway bar up front. That should tighten things up a bit

Seeing as you getting it done at pedders, how much are there sports ryder gas struts? Ive got them in my EF and i like them. Stiff but not too stiff up front but it handles quite well. The sports ryder shocks i got in the rear arent too crash hot though, might be because the rear isnt low enough, but its pretty soft and when you take a corner fast it kinda feels like the rear wants to kick out. As for bushes ive got nolathanes though-out and they squeak like hell lol, probably need a bit of greasing.. Ive had a few people recommend super pro bushes to me because they are supposedly pretty good and not as hard as the nolathanes. Depending how low you go in the front you'll probably need a camber kit as well to fix up the camber angle

They do say that Nolathane bushes should be greased so no wonder yours are sqeaking. When you buy them new they supply grease with them.

SuperPro bushes are better engineered than the others, and use far more superior materials. They don't turn to powder like the others.
I'm still using the bushes I bought 5 yrs ago. Swapped them from the EA to the ED.

Did they have much wear ?? I suppose you could dismantle and regrease them at intervals.

+1 for el rear diff housing, has a lower watts link pinion and reduces roll a lot. lower the car to a height suitable for you. you'll notice a huge difference even with lows. while doing the springs whack in any brand shocks depending on budget. i recommend boge as they have a great ride and resonable price.

all of the above can be done cheaply. depending on budget and or if not happy with car after the above mods, hit up the swaybars and bushes.

cheers
