Hi all,
Today i managed to score the complete setup, from floor to shifter, a BF 6 speed auto shifter and leather boot. I have PM'd OZBMX and he replied but sort of was'nt making much sense haha, so i thought i would post a topic up asking if anyone knows how i can go about putting the shifter on the E series T-bar, Bar. I am planning on taking my spare woodgrain selector panel apart to fit the leather boot into, and then having the BF shifter connected to that sitting obviously, where it should be. So in the end it will hopefully look like its always been there. What will i need to mount the shifter handle on the "pole" and make the button work so i can change gears? I know when i did my EL shifter i had to lengthen the little metal rod, but i am figuring that being many many years in the future, the BF will be a bit harder. Any help would be great, Cheers, Mason

The shifter operates differently. Different amount of movement. Im not even sure if its cable driven or purely electric?
.. and as for I wanted it... what I said |

Sorry mate, I was basically wiped by the flew last night, so hold no responsibility for my actions, haha.
Anyway, I mounted a 4 speed shifter not a 6 speed, I had to make a step up adapter that i threaded on the shaft then the ba shifter fiteed over snugly, although, I believe the bf shifter is much narrower, which come to think of it could even be a slight drama if it's to much smaller, but without one I can't check or confirm anything. But most importantly the 6 speed shifter already pushed down so i believe you may either be able to use the white stick as is, adapt it by cutting and shutting it with the e series rod, or potentially making an appropriate wedge. my final concern with it it strength, as the eseries spring seems to be under a lot more pressure than the b series one. So you could either change the spring for a lighter spring or beef up the shifter pieces from the 6 speed. I'm thinking about changing my current spring for a lighter one as it is a bit weighty currently. Let us know if you have any qualms and if you could take a few photos of one disassembled it'd be much appreciated. As I'd like to try adapt the guts from a 6 spd into a 4 spd, to see if its runs much nicer but just haven't had much of a chance to check one out at all.

Will do, once i start the mod, ill take some photos for you. Hopefully it will be as you think, about the shifter already pushed down so i can just chop some rods etc.

Received my shifter today, what an impressive piece. Have taken some photos, will post them up later tonight. It appears the shifter works similar to an E series one, push the button in and the latch lowers off the little tooth on the selector panel. So that part of things looks easy to put in. If i was to put the whole shifter assembly in it looks to be easier than the BA mod. It doesnt have all that wasted space for the sport mode, in the BF it just tilts to the side slightly and thats it. Connected to the shifter shaft is a little plastic "stalk" that has a metallic tip that obviously activates the little magnets on the electronic board. you will see in the photos. Very neat part, cant wait to start modding!
