Hey guys, I’m looking to manual swap my BF wagon at some point using a T5 gearbox from my S1 VS commodore that I’m parting out. I’ve seen that I’m best off using an AU bellhousing since it’s a cable clutch box, but I was wondering if there’s anything I’d need to do to the box to make it suit a Barra. I’ve seen on the commodore forums that the T5’s for V6 commodores had a larger input shaft? The thread didn’t have any more information after that, whether if larger in diameter, length, etc. So if any of you’s can point me in the right direction to figure that out it would be much appreciated. I’d assume I’m going to have to change it out with a ford input shaft to suit though.

And for the driveshaft as well, would it matter what driveshaft I use or are AU/BA ute t5 shafts both the same length? Or, would I possibly be able to get away with using my VS’s shaft since it’s a Ute? I know the wheelbases of both cars are the same length but I’d imagine the commodore’s shaft would be slightly too long just by seeing where the ecotec sits in the engine bay compared to the Barra in the wagon. If it’d work though I’d definitely be cheering at saving a few extra dollars 8-)

Cheers in advance for any guidance

Hi.
sorry but the BF won't accept the cable clutch without body & pedal work coz the BA/BF don't use cable as they are hydraulic. the gearbox/bellhousing is also slightly differant. so if you want to go manual in the BF [without spending a lot of $$ reworking the car] and as too the comode box ... well.. your choice.

as the AU/BA/BF wagons use an alloy shaft .. i had to find a steel tailshaft from an earlier model so i could convert 'Ol yella [AU wagon] to manual due to the place i asked if they did alloy & they said they didn't. ute tailshafts from [at least AU maybe BA/BF as well?] are the wrong length for the wagon. but if it's steel it 'should' be easy to get it shortened to what you want.
