is there a correct procedure to bleeding the brakes an EL XR6?

Start with the wheel furthest from brake cylinder. In other words, back left, then back right, front left and finally front right.

Yes.

Passenger rear, Drivers rear, Passenger front, drivers front.

Don't go stupid either, you are bleeding brakes not trying to crack your master cylinder.

it'd have abs though wouldnt it so it would be driver rear, passenger rear, driver front, passenger front

ABS,doesn't affect the way to do it.

Check all the caliper slides too, and condition of the slide boots, piston dust boots, etc.

gee i thought my brake fluid was dirty before i changed it

I removed the res from the master.....there is a little bolt underneath....8mm I think.....doesn't need to be done up tight either....it is a "shouldered" bolt.....so it doesn't actually clamp down on the res.....have a look with a little mirror-on-a-stick and you'll see what I mean.
