Has anyone had any troubles with insurance after putting lows or superlows on their car? most companies only allow 30mm or something.

makes it a b**ch cause i dont plan to crash my car, nor do i plan to pay large premiums. i think my insurance is void anyway cause ive got 17's on.

Have you seen pic of my ute? Insurance companies (other than Shannons and just car) won't touch it. Standard engine, standard ride hide etc. Just bolt ons.
Go figure...
No wonder everyone rips off insurance companies :?

If there is an excuse to be found insurance companies will find it thats for sure.... sometimes it has to do with age too... being 40+ helps sometimes, use to be pain in the a*** when I was younger

but then again my car is mostly stock standard, so no real problems there....

the thing that does get me when they ask what extras you do have like air and steer etc and it is factory standard and they charge you bloody extra for it!!!! now that really pisses me off

for my parents to ensure their car they had to get an alarm and imobliser fitted. after that went it they hiked up the premium due to the cost of the alarm/immobiler. insurence co.'s are a pack of ruthless krunts.

you can get away with a little bit when your older, try the same thing when your 18 tho...... they dont like you, cos it puts you straight into the "I like to do burnouts" catergory

17's you can get away with, legally you are allowed to go up 1inch in rim size and width from maximum factory option, ie FTR's came in 16 so 17 are your friend. EL's are allowed 18's cause the el gt came with 17's.

Personally I have insured with young and cool. its another option for insurance, similar to just cars, there are others out there as well like budget direct.

as far as lowering goes it is completly up to the incusrers discresion (?) as to how low you can go..

with my insurance I was told I con do whatever I want as long as I do not exceed the legal limits and no larger than 18's, have to maintain the stock ECU, they don't care about cam's head work or none of that.. as long as it can run on the stock ecu they figure it cannot be too wild. oh yeah had to get a 3 point immobiliser. but on the upside if you use one of their prefered installer you do get a discount. I paid only $645 premium with an under 25 driver listed on the policy, it is a name only policy though.. and the immobiliser was $250.

that is only 895 per annum with a top quality immobilser.. beat that!
