Afternoon all
Ive ordered a set of braided brake lines for the xr. But there doesnt seem a lot of point to them as long as the brake booster flexes the way it does. So ive made up a template to tie the booster in with the shock tower. (the brace will bolt on to the 2 bolts on the front of the booster.) Before i start actually putting in the work to make it up, i just want to make sure theres no problems with doing this. ie, not going to crack the fukin booster. Or if there are any better ways to brace the booster, id be gratefull for any info cheers Tim |

why bother?
teh braided lines should be able to move no dramas with teh small amount of movment ofthe booster/mastery cylinder if the solid lines can deal with it

The only problem I can see is if you are running very stiff springs in the front suspension which can cause the shock towers to flex. If the suspension isn't to agressive then it won't be a problem if the springs are stiff then a shock tower brace will help take out flex. |

thanks for the reply fellas, id given up on the thread, thought there was no interest.
Macca is on the money with what he said. Disco frank have you ever watched your booster while someone steps on the brakes. rediculous. Since this was brought to my attention i have started looking at what other car manufacturers do. Commodores have a brace for phuck sake. interestingly it is tied in with the strut tower. Tickford 6, do you have any pics, or can you describe the brace you have? If i dont find anything better, i will just copy what holden have done. whats the world coming too cheers Tim |

sorry no pics.
basicly a bit of 5mm s/steel plate cut bent a drilled so that it bolts to two of the upper spring plate bolts. and butts against the master cyl |

Red EF XR6 that was at the AFD in 05. Cleanest EF i've ever seen, the guy had done some minor work to the car but said this was a very worthy mod. its something i'll do at some stage!

I had one of those braces on my previous car for about 10 or so months.
$9 of parts from Bunnings will build you a simple one to test with. Was worth everyone of those $9. Gotta transfer it to my new s**t this weekend. I do miss it. |
