Okay, what e-series falcons came with metal boosters? as my plastic one in my el has just cracked (guessing its a common problem with big cams and extractors??) so wondering if any can be retro fitted? from memory xr6's had metal ones.. did eb-ed's have them too? can they be fitted into el's? straight swap or would have to change master cylinders over?

Cheers Jack.

I think the booster in my EB is metal, but i'm not 100% sure. As for if it fits the later fords, no idea.

I know the master cyl's are different if you have ABS or not.

Cheers

EA/EB/ED 6cyl all same booster and metal, EB/ED V8 same and Metal...
The EA/EB/ED booster has 3 mounting bolts to the firewall and yours has 2, maybe with a bit of work you might be able to adapt it?

The AU II booster may not fit as the Pedal bracket is different between I and II, III.

EF/EL has same Master Cyl ABS or NOT
AU I has same Master Cyl ABS or NOT
and II, III have same master cylinder weather ABS or NOT.

Would a AU one make any difference to the brakes?

What about the twin diaphram booster? they where on the EB xr6/8 and metal. got one on my EB, they are not as big in diameter but allot thicker.

have heard a small mod to the fire wall will do it for a metal one.

Mine cracked and was put down to the fact of extractors with no shield. I think it can be done, you may just need to get creative with it all

Optional on some EB 2 & ED's.

I might have to keep my eyes open for a v8 booster to upgrade mine with, if they are double diaphram.

Cheers

Its a good cheap mod (got one for $30) it just allows you to get more braking pressure for less pedal effot.

I had a EBII fairmont with ABS. On the EB's (not sure about ED's) all ABS Fords had a LSD aswell :)

The secret to booster lasting is too install a sheild around the booster to stop the heat cracking the plastic booster. You can buy aluminum tape with adhesive backing plumbers use it also

gassa
