i have an ef fairmont ghia and ive noticed they have plastic brake dust covers on all the wheels, i dont like the look of them as they are fading a bit, should i just remove them or are there any benefits????

Take them off, will look better, and the dusty wheels will inspire you to wash your car more often!

na dont really wash it now thats cos new house and no fun washing on mud....will go to diy carwash soon. funny thing is i dont even know if its rear disc or drum but i guess ive not had the car long and never had the wheels off ( im pretty sure theyre disc)

maybe i should modify them to fit on my wifeys festiva at least then she will stop complaining about dirty wheel trims!

Guarantee it. As far as i know, Hyndai have been the only ones keen enough to put rear drums on a passenger car in the last 10 years, lol.

the focus had rear drums on the base model. don't think the new model does though, they must've realised how stupid it was!

As far as I know all E series have discs all round.

heaps of cars have rear drums still.. focus... mazda2.. lancer... old astra... pulsar... actually i think the list of small/medium cars with rear discs would be smaller...

I took mine off with only a little trouble. Obviously you have to take the wheels off first... Then I just pushed on the shields from the outside using a socket extension. They're a right bastard to get off 'cos they are so tight, but it's very straight forward... kinda like taking the lid off a tin of paint... loosen one point, move to the next, loosen, move etc. etc.
