Gday.
My brake light have been playing up alot lately. They Dont seem to work when I apply the brakes but at night time when I flick on the lights the brake lights stay lit when im not breaking...( even though they dont work when I do break during the day). The spoiler light used to always be on at night time too but when I applied the brakes it would turn off..its pretty much backwards. So Ive checked the globes and the fuses..what the f*ck else can I do? Other than get the effing thing re-wired. Cheers CAM |

looks like the brake switch on the brake pedal has s**t itself. theyre only about $30 or so to replace, and its pretty easy to do yourself.

Break Switch wasnt the problem.
Got new one and whacked it in..still nothing. A bloke said, the harness for the trailer lights might be f**king with it (as I dont use a trailer and its wired to the rear lights), or the harness that you slip onto the brake switch might have sh*t itself. Anyone had the same problem/fixed a problem like it? |

did u put the globes in the right way around? they will fit nicely one way and the other theyre tight, they push 1 pin on the side of the base back into the globe base, id pull them out and check them again

Yep checked all that..one pins higher than the other side of the globe and thats how the socket is set..they will only go in one way.
Think that the wiring is just Fu*ked somewhere along the line....ran out of simple solutions. |

Trailer plug will f**k up your lights if theres s**t in it or a connection is dodgy even when you are not towing.
There is either a major short or mismatched wire somewhere to cause your spoiler light to turn off when you brake - the negative is either being powered as well, or the power is being cut when you apply the brakes. Have you got a multimeter? This will let you test what gets current and when, so you'll be able to find out if your earths are getting powered or if you are loosing power from the positive side. |

Had the trailer light plug problem as well. Plug and unplug the trailer plug a few times to see if it clears it out. Then maybe try clearing the terminals with a jewellers flathead screwdriver. If that fails, check the trailer wiring that should be under the steering column; that's where mine is as I have the electronic brake kit. If still no luck, as above. You'll need a multimeter to trace the fault.
