I have a SVO falcon and I am running 16 inch rims.
What option do I have in going to bigger brakes? I am running sloted & cross drilled rotors and ultamate pads, but they don't cut it for track work. I don't want to change the rims as the car is all original. Thanks in advance. |

They let you run cross-drilled on tracks???
With the 16s, your only option would be what they have on the series 2 and 3 AUs. The FPV and Brembo brake packages need bigger wheels. I'd check to see what someone else says before being sure about this. That just what I think.

i think the svo falcons are early e-series.
in this case nothing without going to twinpots which require 17' rims. you could get better disks, like the 4000 series dba's, but they are around $400 a disk. try some racing brake fluid, requires changing more regularly than normal fluid though.

I spoke to John at Cebco brakes, and he said that the twin pots might fit, but he is unsure. The fit inside the 16 inch CSA Prowlers, but it is hit and miss with 16's. Only about 20% of 16" rims will take them.

my AUII XLS ute can standard with 16" rims and they used twin-pot calipers.
Surely there is a conversion kit to suit the E-series vehicles.

Surely there is a conversion kit to suit the E-series vehicles. If there is I would love to know about it. Everything is leading to deadends ATM. |

The only way I know of is EL GT spindles, and then twinpot calipers to suit.
CMS in Sydney are doing testing on a 4 pot caliper, that 'Terrorist Ghia' has fitted to his car I believe. There was also an EOI on twin-pots down here in Melb, but it was causing some unrest, so I don't know what's happening with that. Supposedly, anyone who has put twin piston setups on an E-Series (including the factory setups on EL GT and FBT) have a really soft pedal, with quite long travel. Having said all that, if you can find someone that does twin pots that fit inside the 16" SVO rims let me know. Hope that helps a bit.

I have the same dilema wanting to keep my car original with the tickford 16's on my EF, and tyring to not keep on cracking the DBA's (as I've done on 3 occassions).
Seen a set of twin piston brakes on an ED race car (the Yellow one) at the last Cresent Motorsport dyno day with 16" wheels, but the owner wasnt too forth coming in giving me any information about them. He just told me to talk to Joe about getting them, and speaking to Joe, he tells me that you need 17's. As for just putting better discs alone, its the small pad thats the problem (not the disc). The pads dont have enough surface area and get cooked.

You hit the nail on the head. Bigger pads are need and thicker rotors, not so much the size of the rotor. |

So go a higher temp pad for the race track, don't run cross-drilled as they reduce valuable disc surface area and reduce vehicle weight if at all possible. Much better options. Other than that, get some custome brakes made. talk to triumph rover spares in Adelaide and they might be able to make up some custome brakes with 4 pot AP calipers. |

there is a upgrade kit made by cebco which basically upgrade it to el gt setup, but its about $2400.
We may have a kit here eventually which will be a cheaper upgrade to 330mm but unsure of time frame As sson as we have them in stock we will advertise them

But will they fit inside 16" rims ... I think this is the problem ... getting them to put inside a 16" rim.
Hence why i mentioned utilising AU twin-pots that are already behind 16" wheels ... think the long soft pedal feel is due to the brake master/slave cylinder that is chosen ... surely someone is able to supply and upgraded item that will fix this problem. Also changing to braided lines will increase pedal feel as well. (ever so slightly though).

FPV/Tickford, which is pretty much the EL GT setup, can't fit behind 16" rims.
The only upgrade you can do, is get better rotors & pads & braided lines. Or you can get AUII/III Setup or Standard BA Setup as Mechan said. AUII/III Setup: F: Twin Piston Calipers, 287mm Disc R: Single Piston Calipers, 287mm Disc (So you don't need this) BA Setup: F: Twin Piston Calipers, 298mm Disc R: Single Piston Calipers, 303mm Disc You can't fit the BA Premium Brakes on, as they have a larger rotor. So if you go the AU Setup, you only need to change the front, if you go the BA Setup, you need to change the Rear as well. You need to change all your lower control arms, swaybars etc etc. Although if you do this, you'll probably end up with AU/BA offset.
