What's normal for brake pedal travel before the car starts slowing down? On my AU, it takes only a coupla millimetres of push before the brakes start working. But on the EF, it takes at least 2cm of movement. I thought I must have a dodgy master cylinder on the EF (it is 16 years old, after all). But I drove a brand new G6E the other day, and it's the same as the EF - takes a coupla cms before anything happens. Is this all within the normal range? Or is it something that can be adjusted? Are the AU's brakes too "tight"? Thanks.

...mine has a lengthy travel before it bites, never really measured it. Compared to other cars I have driven (smaller cars, such as Corolla, Camry, Civic etc), the pedal travel is definitely longer in the EL. Everytime I drive a Toyota or a Honda, the pedal travel is so small that when I push on it lightly (well I think it was lightly in comparison) the brakes bite and just jolts to a stop. So I have to tread even lighter on the pedal for a smooth stop...do that in the EL and you just flash the rear brakes but the car keeps rolling.
