I got quoted $160 for front and $140 for rear for EBC greenstuff pads and $130 for DBA slotted rotors all round.
Rotors arent too bad but the pads are you serious? |

Where did you get those prices?
The Greenstuff pads are (apparently) superior to the Bendix Ultimates... you get what you pay for.

I cant remember the pads I last put on the ute - but they were apparently one of the best asbestos free pads I could get and they cost $80. If youre in the area talk to Gary or Arie at faulkners autopro in bentley, tell them kurt or kris told you about them - they are always giving us good prices coz we are always in there. I think the rotors for the xr6 cost me $120 each from memory (and wont need replacing for years unless you have warped them or something!)

I have seen retail prices of EBC pads upto 200+ for the set (front or rear)
In melb we can pick them up for roughly 100ish a set at hightek brakes in moorabbin, and yes they are better than bendix! (ps, im not just saying it with no experience, ive used both on 2 different cars!)

Hey dan, does the explorer have good brakes or just good prices lol?!
My front rotors, non slotted or crossdrilled were RRP of 480 per rotor and ford "assured" me that there was no other rotor that i could use.. Idiots - i went and spoke to cam and he hooked me up with some dba slotted ones for the el gt at a MUCH more civilised price, same with pads, cept from cam i got ebc ones much cheaper! Havnt seen you round here lately, whats the go?

Dont worry Kurt its not for the XR6 its for the white EF. I've got massive steering shakes when applying brakes. I dont think they've been replaced for years.

They are entry level racing pads so yes are a bit pricey.

DBA slotted rotors =
I've got'em up front only (will be on rears when they next need replacing) and Bendix ultimate pads. Very nice stopping power. To bad about all the damn dust, but thats what you get.

How much are just normal brakes and pads usually none of this fancy stuff i think im up for new rotors and pads for the front atleast cause i got bad steering shakes when i apply my brakes too. Dammit and the rotors on now arent very old.

El cheepo brake pads can be as low as $25.00... If your discs arn't old, consider having them machined instead of replaced. Or maybe the shakes are caused by something else... |
