Whilst I was in sydney oer xmas I got new tyres fitted to my wheels.
On the drive home there was a lot of stop stard traffic.
My front left wheel had a rubbing/gringing sound comming from it when we got home. 500ks away.
My pads were low before we went down.
I jacked up my car and took the wheel off. The back pad looks to be completly warn and it looks to be eating into the rotor. About 1mm.
My question is just because the pad is worn should that cause it to rub.

Also how much would I be looking at for average priced rotors and pads

it depends on what pads you used..
the harder the pads the more they wear into the disc..
so after a fair amount of km the pads can wear into the disc and when the pads are low the inner or outer edge of the pad backing will rub on the disc..

also if the inner pads are wearing down before the outer pads the caliper slides might be seized..

a new set of rda slotted rotors are about $200 pair dba slotted are about $320 pair..
std rda rotors are about $100 pair and dba are about $180 pair..
i just replaced my rotors on my ed and i went for the rda slotted and bendix ct standard pads..
i rather the pads wear out fast and the rotors last a bit longer...

just jack the car up, and do one wheel at a time

unscrew the wheel nuts
remove the wheel
unscrew the caliper bolts
remove the old pads
install the new pads (dont put them on BACKWARD)
add some anti-squeal on the BACK of the pads
unscrew the rotor bolts and remove the rotor
install the new rotor
install the caliper and bolt back onto the rotor
install the wheel
screw on the wheel nuts

you're done!

i did mine 4 weeks ago
if you have a torque wrench you're laughing

yeah i just borrowed my mate's wrench
you only really need it for like 10 mins

120-140Nm on my AU

not sure about your EB, but check your manual and specs.

Tighter is better than loose

AU is completely different to EBII....if you do the stub axle nut up to 120Nm, you will sieze the bearings in no time.

have a look at Troyman's post with the rough costs

is $120 for just pads or rotors?

if it's for rotors, it's cheap
if it's for pads, it's a bit expensive
