By putting the 4 ltr ones on my 5 ltr was this a mistake on my part ? or are they interchangeable no worries?

Mine doesn't have abs (not sure if the donor car had it either) if the donor car had abs would this affect my installing this caliper onto my car ? I see no difference visually.

EDIT : brakes could have been tight due to an over tightened handbrake cable.. wheels are still not turning while I have the car up but I'll drop it and move the car to see if loosening the handbrake cable has done anything

tried a few things and still no joy ....

With the EB back brake/handbrake setup , when I pull on the handbrake lever on the caliper , I can see the piston coming out like it would to squash the pads together.
But when I push the lever into the 'handbrake off' position I don't see the piston releasing, should I see this , I think I should but maybe not .. dunno.

ea to ed v8 and 6 rear abs and non abs rear brakes are the same..
if your handbrake cable is pulling on the arms when the handbrake is released then you need to back off the cable so the arms on the caliper return all the way back..

I'm not expert of why things die , but I can rebuild em no problem , So they came off for reconditioning (so I can peek inside ) and will be back on shortly

So back to the reason I started this thread.

Now that the caliper has been stripped out , it was murky in there , and inside the piston the ball bearing race was somewhat tarnished (tiny bit of rust somehow aswell), as for a reason to not retract and release off the disk I couldn't see anything bad enough.Oil is flowing down the tubes to the caliper So I am stumped.

So should I see the piston retract when I apply/release the handbrake (caliper off car) or not because there is no back pressure on the piston ?

did u back off the adjustments when u put the new calipers on, eg wind the pistons back in

originally no I didn't wind the piston back in .Reason being I put the old pads back in (due to being broke and not able to get new ones at the time) which were thinner than the pads that were already in the calipers I got from the wreckers. So my mind said "hey it will right itself ,just throw the thinner ones in" as they do at regular brake pad change after winding the pistons back in.
