Only the other day my car decided it was time for a modification, it may have had the s**t with having to pull an empty trailer. But anyway, as I was pulling up to a round about the clutch cable tore a hole bigger than a fifty cent piece out of the firewall, this caused much inconvienience to me and much abuse to be hurled my way for blocking a major road.

What I need to know is where I can get the part to fix it and how much it may be

the only way to fix this would be to repair the firewall but this would be costly and u would have to remove most of the dash and brake pedal box and booster.
May i suggest u just bung the hole up with a piece of sheet metal or the like and upgrade to a hydrauilc clutch and slave cylinder.
Will require a different pedal box and clutch master cylinder will mount offset to the gaping hole in ur firewall.
U would enjoy the benifits of hydraulics much over a repaired up cable setup, Parts should be available at most wreckers.

If you are good with tools and know or know someone who can weld then you migh want to give this a try:

If not then you will need to take the car to a panel beater for them to fix it up. Could be quite costly so imo its best to do it yourself if you can.
I beleive Ford used to make a repair kit for the firewalls but i dont think they are still available so you wont be able to buy a kit to fix it.
Good luck.

Nice work!

I tore my firewall badly due the the thing being weakened by the LPG Injection wiring running thru nearby & some brutal use of the clutch. Left some cool signatures on the road tho!

Ended up removing the dash & all the crap to get to the spot, and tapped it back in place. Welded it up right along the tear, all 10cm of it, then weleded a plate on the left side of the clutch cable hole, when looking at the firewall from in the cabin, dash removed. plate was about 100x40x3mm steel. Firewall doesn't flex a bit anymore, and it's all hidden away under the dash.

Now i can feel all the flex in my peddle box. Next time i have to remove my dash, the peddle box is getting some work.

Cheers

They still make a piece for it but its listed as a part for an XD only, but the plate part that joins the firewall is only just bigger than the hole so I've got some 3mm plate to back it up with
