Ah. Looking at your photo with the rub marks on the upright I see you had the same problem that I did. :D. Lucky we have a nice long hub

ADAPTERS... Hate to repeat myself so soon but have a look..

viewtopic.php?f=17&t=77715&start=20

No issue with studs, as you bolt these on and then they have their own studs sticking out more... They have a center raised lip to act as a replacement hub for the rears, which you could use on the front of yours as it looks like you will run out of hub before your required twenty mm or so......

Longer wheel studs could be bought or manufactured (not sure on legalities of that, but can't see that many issues) but you still need the wheel sitting on a hub.

The wheel adapter sits on your hub and then has an extension that replicates the hub further out.

Have a decent look at the pictures on this thread dude.

He fiend, I think you will find that the things we are talking about are spacers. They don't come with studs they are just a thin piece of metal that slide on to your hub.

Yes, I get that.

**BUT** he says he put TWO 8mm SPACERS on and his studs were too short. If you are needing 16mm spacer for only 1mm of clearance, (and no stud left!) you'd be better off looking at adapters...

Hate to repeat myself for three or four times in the space of a single page, but there it is.

EDIT---
EFNA - Those EBAY ones have no centre piece to act as a hub... Please have a look at the photos in this thread and talk to the seller of them on Fordmods...

viewtopic.php?f=17&t=77715&start=20[/quote]

You will find the big lip in the middle acts as a hub and supports the wheel since moving the wheel out 20mm or more will result in NOT A LOT OF STUD and NO HUB.

thanks for the replys i went down to rim shop today and picked up a couple of 8 mm spacers just to see what sort of clearance i need to fit, and turns out im pretty much screwed as dummied it up with both spacers on the same stud so 16mm and it only gave me only bout 1-2mm clearance but the stud is too far gone.

^^^^
STUD IS TOO FAR GONE in 16mm OF MOVEMENT
8mm x 2 = 16mm
16mm only gives 1mm of clearance

HUB ADAPTERS (as per viewtopic.php?f=17&t=77715&start=20 ) give 25mm, provide a HUB and studs, and will pass engineering inspections to my knowledge.

Right. Even I am sick of repeating myself now. Am damn sure you guys are sick of it too. So I'm now buggering off. Cheers.

I run 5mm shims on the front of mine, but needed longer wheerstuds as a result. They can be brought from any wheel tyre shop and are multi fit. My AU1 17's hit the calipers, but Yobbofords old 17's from his EB wagon cleared them easily

AH ok up to date now just read throught the thread again :D

Now if you fitted 20-30mm adapters wouldn't your wheels foul the guards?

I no I lowered the missus BA with 19's and they would rub on the guards on full lock, put 20mm on that and they would be on the gaurds

DO NOT! touch those ebay spacers, there is something very important missing from them, not to mention that the studs are not imperial like the falcon ones so when you wind your wheelnuts on they wont tighten properly and you will loose a wheel

I seriously do not advise hub adaptors after what I discovered on mine today ...

gearbox-suspension-brake-driveline-f4/do-not-use-hub-adaptors-photographic-proof-t82431.html

they were purchased from tempe tyres. I may have done something wrong but I followed all directions given by tempe tyres

yeah stay away form the cheap ebay ones, their rears dont have the lip!. Can be identified by stud thread. If its a 12x1.5mm thread its a cheap version. Goon ones have a 1/2 inch thread.

guys ford actually made 1.5mm spacers found on the rear assembly for AU2 onwards as the twin piston assembly offset was made 1.5 mm too large and to help handling they put spacers on the rear to enlarge the track to compensate
