It's better than the stock stuff (which is appalling), but are certainly not performance brakes. Falcon's are big heavy cars, and with a fair bit of power, so stopping will often be done from higher speeds. Even the factory brakes will pull you up fine - once. The bigger rotors and bigger callipers/pads don't always equal more stopping power, but certainly add repeatability. As I've said I see a lot of track days, you can spot the cars with stock brakes, they go out for 2/3/4 laps then come off because they've got no brake pedal. The cars with big brake setups be it the FPV/HSV factory options, or aftermarket kit like Alcon, Willwood etc. are able to stay out all session.

BUT

If you never intend to see a circuit, they are a worthwhile upgrade over stock. If you ever do you'll realise you wasted your money, and should've gotten something better.

Other options, include Alcon brake setups, they're cheaper than Brembo options, and seem to have fewer clearance issues they'll fit under 17"s - and they're certainly not crap (they pull up the V8 Supercars, since they were made the control calliper this year).


I don't see your issue with balance. The balance is controlled by line pressure. So whether you have stock 1 piston calipers or some big multi pot and large disc option on the back, they'll still do less braking force. The extra pots allow for more controlled pad movement, not always more power.
If you're concerned with load carrying brake bias, the 1 tonne utes includes a weight adjusted bias controller for the rear brakes (allowing more pressure when loaded up)

well FTG told me the pbr system is off the bf gt as apposed to the ba you stated.

Im all up for brembos as well, but the price is unbeliable to maintain...

Where can i look at costs for alcon brake systems?

mate has harrops on his VE SS wagon not sure what theyre equal to (perhaps brembo competition?) they pulled his car up with 4 of us in it from bit over 210km/h to stop in a stupid distance! im guessin theyre fair expensive as well though...
Yeah bigger brakes = better performance to a certain point, after that it then just becomes a matter of how well the heat is dissapated.
I prob wont be doing any track days with this car it just happens that these brakes came up for a price i thought was more than reasonable!
Although with around 2.5 ton of boat pushing a AU wagon with mere stock brakes down a few big hills we come across, at least this time ill be feeling a bit more relaxed when get to the corners at the bottom.

All BF FPV's got at least 4-pot front Brembo's.

The rears on the 'low end' brake packs (and all Utes) are PBRs.
