hmm, well Id say the processor is in top right the square looking thing... and the chip to the right of that with what looks like stickers on it is the memory where the maps would be stored Im assuming.
The transistors on the left hand side would be FETs for the solenoids probably. Im trying to think of what that solenoid in the bottom left corner does. You could start by pulling those yellow stickers of that chip, getting the Part number and the manufacturer. Then just check (google) if it is memory, and try and get a datasheet for it, and then we can try and read what is on it? Anyone else? Cheers

Considerign that transistor at the borrom right is hooked up to the big resistor, I'd say it may be to do with shift 'firmness' - ie S5.
Unless my eyes are playing tricks and teh track just loops around the bottom trace of the resistor leg.

hi
the epromm that is covered i have pealed of the stickers and its UV type of 28 pin epromm the actual details on the eprom are as followers 857654 S56022 U10901285 i m c 1982 ( note the small m and c letters have circles around them ) any ideas guys cheers

Hi all, first post for me here although I've lurked for a long time on and off.
This project grabbed my attention, usually not a lot of people seem interested in getting into the guts of things... makes a refreshing change. I can't offer much time or commitment, but I know enough to be dangerous mechanically and with micro's. My main interest is seeing a solution for 'mastering' the EECV, but this project is a great start in getting on top of things. I suspect that somewhere in this project, interaction with the EEC will be required (I'm sure the engine practises "torque control" during shifts) so hopefully something good will come of that too. At this stage all I can offer is encouragement and the occasional bit of info that may be useful - between everyone, we should know enough to make something happen. I'm sure all are aware of the rudimentary "shift kits", but I'll link them here for reference: http://www.mechanicalforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=18 http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2378 cheers |

I've been speaking with a few mate that work at BRT/ION/DSI about this. One of them has told me that they do some programming of the auto ecus there, and there is some form of EPROM burner and programming software they have. I'm still waiting to head back from them, and also speaking with another mate about trying to at least borrow this equipment..
I'll keep you guys informed. |

you mean the transmission controller?? or the whole Auto ECU?
I doubt they have access to programming the Ford ECUs, Ford is VERY strict on this, and normally only Ford Engineers with special clearance have access to the code/equipment. Cheers

The BTR 4 speed auto control only recieves inputs from the TPS etc, it does NOT talk to the ECU in any shape or form.
I have an EA 3 speed auto ECU in my car, running a 4 speed auto trans control computer, with of course the BA/BF SSS electronics over the top of all that.

yeah, ok...
but the later ECUs came with that built in, hence the ECU controls everything. Its only the earlier fords that got the transmission controller, the rest of them have been controlled through the actual ECU itself. Cheers

in the I6 from i think EBII on it was intergrated
in the V8 from i think AU on it was intergerated

yeah, the V8s remained seperate.. but yeah from EBII onwards in the 6s it was integrated. Thats why I was asking which one they program, cos I don't think Ford would allow programming of the whole ECU, unless its the newer ECUs, then its no big deal.
Cheers

I'm lead to believe that some of the autos they send out actually have an controller with them. Keep in mind that BRT/ION make the same gearboxes for other companies then ford.
As soon as I find out more I’ll let you guys know.. |
