I'm doing a SEFI 5.0/BTR95 conversion into an older car with a mechanical speedo. How do I get the electronic speedo signal to the transmission computer so the shift points etc are correct? Is there a speedo drive splitter (or similar) that will allow me to run the electronic sender (for the TCM signal) and a cable drive speedo? Or something that runs off the driveshaft?
Thanks in advance

how hard would it be to put an electronic speedo mechanism in the dash? imo thats your best option.

I was in a similar boat with my old P6 LTD. It has a factory 351 and FMX, and i wanted to fit a BTR into it. I heard there was some Y piece that goes into the box and gives 2 outputs, but i never found any other info on it.
So i decided to give up on it and just rebuild the FMX.

Have a talk to your local instrument technician that rebuilds car speedo & guages - They usually sell the adaptors to do this job. A mate put a big block Chev & 4L80E into a 66 Chev & the local speedo & guage repairer steered him in the right direction with that conversion...

Yep, I've already tried the local speedo shop and he was of little help. Never even herd of anything like a splitter or piggyback sender.
I've pulled a speedo sender apart to see how easily it could be modified but it's not a simple job. Then I thought about using a variable oscillator based on a TPS signal but that's not really the solution either. Someone out there must have found a source of such a piece, or a modification that is relatively easy or a simple circuit that emulates the signal - anyone??? thanks again

Castle Auto Electrics on Victoria. They have T piece adaptors that drive the electronic sender from the end and the cable at 90 degrees.

Thanks for that, have you used one yourself or know of somebody who has?
I've also thought about welding on a second speedo connection point below the factory one. This should give the opposite rotation that I need for the mechanical speedo. Cheers
