G'day.
Anyone know the parts required to repair my loose output shaft on the auto (BTR97LE)? When i say loose, there is too much movement on the yoke shaft. Cheers people. |

you need a extension bush and seal plus a housing gasket
and some oil to top it back up with |

I also need to do this. Is it possible to DIY it?
I was quoted $130 to have it done at my tranny place. BenJ

you need some tools to knock the old bush out and put the new ones in
but isnt too hard to remove and refit the extension housing yourself |

Just remove driveshaft (mark on both ends the original position so its fitted back in correct phasing) remove extension housing, clean it and take it to a trans place to have the bush and seal replaced. The gasket, seal and extension housing seal shouldnt cost much more than $25. You shouldnt have to top up fluid unless its been leaking from seal.

But when you remove the tail shaft yoke from the tranny, it leaks fluid. At least around half a litre. There must be more in the extension housing itself. So you would be up for at least 1 litre of tranny fluid. I think for the extra $100 bucks i'll have the transmission place do it. That way if there is a problem, they should fix it. And it would be a really messy job too. BenJ
