Was driving from Newcastle to Tamworth this afternoon, was about 20km out of Tammy and my back Left wheel decided to fly off!
The rotor dropped onto the ground and dragged along the road until I managed to pull up.
The bloody wheel ended up a good 300-400m down some paddock!
There are 3 studs left on the hub, all bent. Dunno where all the wheel nuts are.
My rims damaged a bit, and the diffs obviously f**k. The rotor has a nice straight edge to it now as well!
Arrrrrgh stupid car!!!! Needed to Vent.

Anyway, might as well ask a question while I'm here. What's everything needed for a complete disc-to-disc diff change?

Cheers.

s**t man. Glad your ok though, thats the main thing, and that you didnt do any panal damge in the process.

Got any pics of the damage, i find it hard to understand how something like that could go worng on a car i'm sure everything gets taken extremely good care of.

thats f**k! glad you are ok :)
who was the last to put the wheel on?

diff should be fine... cant see why it would be f**k at all

best bet your old diff/axle out from the suspension points on the body ie watts link eys and lower arms on the chassis the replace all the bushes etc

ohh added bonus with wheel on each side it will roll out from under the car!

Yeah I have some pics that I will put up soon when I can find the cord to the digital camera.

The place wher I bought the mags from were the last to put the wheels on, but that was like 6 months ago! How freaky is that - fine for months and then it falls off

So there were no signs at all that it was going to happen? The tail end didnt get squirmy at all?

So did the nuts just shear off? that is crazy how it happened, very rare.

Yeah it got a bit squirmy just before it happened but I thought it was the wind picking up a bit.

s**t man ... your lucky there wasn't any further damage ... ie: losing total control and writing the car off and injuring yourself.

Was there any sort of lock-up before the wheel let go??? Any noises beforehand???

Now i have seen a trailer lose a wheel on a freeway before (hub still attached to wheel) and caused a grass fire (due to extreme heat of the hub) where the wheel came to rest.

Will be interesting to see the pics.

That's scary s**t!
I'll have a 3.08SS Disc to disc, up for sale soon (probably swap it for a beer or 6)
But if I were you, I'd get the 3.45 out of an Auto XR6. And grab the XR Upper Arms with it!
