I have gone through one pair of front slotted DBA rotors in 2 years. That's using Bendix Ultimate which eat at the discs a fair bit. Time to ease into the braking mate...

Ive been running QFM A1RM pads in my EL XR and the HPX pads in my daily, havent managed to get fade yet and I've tried a few times down Mt Macedon. Im running a few other little bits and pieces, but for a daily driven car with stock calipers they are a pretty good upgrade. I used to order them from GSL rallysport, but Brakewest in Sunshine stock them now so makes it a bit easier
I previously ran Bendix Ultimates and they dust like anything and eat rotors. Still stopped good though, got fade once racing someone down Mt Alexander and once on GOR. Last edited by rainoffire on Tue May 24, 2011 1:34 am, edited 2 times in total. |

Maybe thats your problem.
Cheap s**t discs that have been machined too much... Past their useful life. As for the rear... I dunno anyone who has shuddering rears that hasn't abused their car in certain ways. |

The only time I had problems with rotors warping was when I tried a set of cheap chinese-made ones. They warped in less than a month. I have had DBA Street Series slotted rotors on my EF XR6 for over five years (80,000kms), do some really hard braking now and then, and am only now getting some unevenness in low speed braking. Can't even notice it above 20km/h. Have run EBC Redstuff and Greenstuff on them (OK at first, then pretty average), and have been on QFM HPX (awesome pads!) since October. Your problem must be in the quality of the rotors themselves.

The DBA Street Series seem to be excellent quality and reasonably priced. The slots will give you a bit better stopping in the wet or when the pads are really hot, so probably cheap insurance. The "kangaroo paw" thing might not do much, but at least you know they are really DBAs. For a track day car, you would probably want to go to two-piece rotors.
I haven't tried Bendix Heavy Duty. My AU had new Bendix General CTs when I bought it; they were so bad they were scary. I hear Ultimates stop well but are dusty. I'm really happy with the QFM HPX: very little dust, easy on rotors, great stopping power, good initial bite, and not too much money (compared to EBC).
