Travelen back from Brisie today put the foot down to pass and sure enough 4 grand and big time slip, lots of noise and no go.

Had my suspicions but now She be f###D Id say.

I wouldnt mind hearing from you fellas that have had a go at rebuilding these boxes or whether there are any sites/info on doing such.

Yeh Im sure I could pay for the rebuild but I have decided Im gunna give the rebuild a go and do the home work now while I can still drive her.

All feedback appreciated

Mick

Frank judging by his post it sounds to be an AUTO box, as he never said he dropped it down a gear to take off, he said he just put his foot down.

a clutch in my tranny shat itself without warning 4 months after i brought my car. it cost me $2300 to have a full re-con at "ALLSTATE AUTOMOTIVE TRANSMISSIONS" i also considered doing it myself, however after consulting my max ellery workshop manual decided it was $2300 well spent  . curious to know how far your tranny travelled before it let go? mine had done 225,557 good luck

There is no way I could fork out that sort of cash for a rebuild. Id throw a c4 or similar in first. Anyways that the reason for the post.

You mention the bible has a description of a how to, I dont own one, yet, but how descriptive is it. maybe a scan if you would.

As for the distance to smashed is less than 120k and it is the original box and was maintained well. Did get a hiding though. Im sure it only the clutches but if I can get hold of a decent how to I will rebuild it stronger.

model is XHXR8 good guess :)
