How hard is it to get a C4 auto into a ED XR6? What is needed to be done? And what would you do about the computer?

Cheers

First you must ask yourself why?

Why Not? What is wrong with a C4? They are a stronger box arnt they? It seems the 4 speed in the EDs are pretty s**t, i had plans to maybe put one in and manulise it or shift kit it!

They hold 290kw in the BA GT's pretty well, and are a pretty good box.
It can be made very strong, and its a really good 6 to make 290kw.

C4's are good, but a backwards step IMO.

ive done the research on this the btr 4 speed that is in the ba's is in its 4th incarnation (lots stronger) and has a very primative torque limiting system. mv automatics will build a btr box to handle 4-500 hp atw but its around 3 grand plus freight

Go for the latest version BTR you can find. They got stronger with each revision. For example ( I am tempting fate) My ED died after 160,000 klm. My Ef is still running like new at 355,000klm. The main rule I have been told is to keep them cool with a big tranny cooler. When my towbar was fitted the fitter insisted on it. and to run the best synthetic trans fluid you can get.

You have to run TQ95, but the cases, and parts are interchangeable, and 4-500 hp at the wheels, there would only be a couple of us on here with that sort of power level, and I dont think any are 6's....

they will fit all the way through to au but make sure its not a box with adaptive shift from late in the au series

They are the same, its the TCU in V8's, or ECU in 6's that have the adaptive strategy, box is identical.

Theres really only one, simple thing you need to do- forget about Auto-btr, C4,C10- whatever, just drop in a 5 speed, and it will go how a Xr-6 is meant to--------I have Manual Wag, and auto sedan, both eb'2's guess whcih one I prefer to drive???
