3.5k's into it's maiden voyage my c4 went ping with a cloud of smoke and a pool of oil on the ground. upon inspection i now have a new inspection port which wasnt there before at the very front of the extension housing on the right hand side.
in the hole there appears to be a black drum of sorts. can anyone tell me whats at the very front of the extension housing? as i'd like to be a bit more educated when i ring my transmission bloke on monday morning.

sounds like the governer has let go, the governor sits on the output shaft within the extension housing

sorry i didnt finish this off. it ended up being the governer. i've since found about 4 people who've had it happen to them and thier transmission builders had all said the same thing that they've never seen it happen in 20 years.
