has anyone done this? I got an EF XR6 and was toying with the idea or a hydraulic clutch conversion, not knowing much about the hydraulic clutch setup as yet, give me a week. just wondering how serious the work load would be to complete, or if it can even be done in the 1st place, the current BA uses a hydraulic clutch I know its a tremec box, I'm running the borg warner T5, I assume the pick up point for the cable would be similar, I know the VS senators used a calbe/hydraulic clutch setup, I don't want to do that cause it seem sto be a case of redesigning the wheel, I wanna know 1st whats involved in a hydraulic clutch setup and second, has anyone else attempted it

i think the biggest hurdle will be that a cable clutch pulls at the pedal where a hyd pushes the cyl in. but i did this when i had a corty years ago, i couldnt keep the cable, so i mounted a HR master cyl on the firewall and mounted it lower on the clutch pedal (below the pivot point so it was pushing the cyl in) and a std ford XB slave cyl, and with a real heavy 11" clutch it actually felt lighter then in the xb due to the hr cyl being bigger diamater then the slave was, so less effort was required to fill the slave.

hope that makes sense.......

oh and i had to convert it as it was a v8 that went in there.

Carline mufflers will do a omplete conversion for around $550 installed. Or castlemain rod shop sell kits i believe. Let us know how u go on though because im interestd in doing it to my ea also.

It allows you to run a heavier pressure plate without damaging the pedal box or firewall. Plus it alot easier to drive even with stock clutch.

The most exciting thing about trading in my BMW for an EF 5Sp was going to a cable clutch. Theres so much more pedal feeling!!!

Hydraulic is the way to go. It would have to be easier on the badly designed Falcon firewall.
Plus when a cable wears out it's likely to snap and then you (or your missus :roll: :wink:) are in big trouble.
When the hydraulics wear out or run out of fluid your very unlikely to get stuck. Just fill the up master cyl up (even soapy water works in an emergency) a quick bleed and at least you can meke it home.
I'd be interested in hearing if anyone goes ahead with this mod, sounds like a good one to me 8-)

Also, i would try Dellow Automotive of Rod Hadfield anyday.
Hadfield is one of the biggest ripoffs i have ever known.

The T5 is a fairly easy box to change clutchless, up and down. Not a big deal at all.
I had to it in a HR Holden many years ago when I was stuck.
If anyone wants to know how to start off no clutch. This is what I did;
Put it in neutral with ignition on and get a few mates to give a push, when you have a little bit of pace, jam it into 3rd or 4th and the motor should fire, it wont hurt the box. And then you wave goodbye. You might want to avoid traffic lights and stop signs and go straight home.

I've done one. The new Hydrolic clutch feels quite good.

Quick to change much lighter under foot and certainly holds more power which was the main issue in my case.

Not too much mucking around and it even came with the T56...

To get going, all you need to do is start it in 1st and give it some throttle...

was it a hard conversion putting a t56 box in the el
