Just got my ef lowered looks good but the guy said i would have to put a camber/caster kit on to compensate for the camber! i never heard of that so what are your thoughts people? Myself personely think that its crap and they just didn't do the wheel alignment properly, but what do i know!
The stats say that the left front tyre is -0.54 of a degree but the right is -1.20 of a degree. They want to charge me $350 for the kits, a bit pricey for two little parts.

i wouldn't lower mine without one anymore - mine with lovell superlows was scrubbing out the front tyres something chronic - with 15's it was bad, and when the 17's went on it looked like a V8 supercar 17's went on one day, camber kit the next! improved handling & tyre wear ten-fold

It's strange that the right is more then the left.
Usually vice versa to compensate for more weight in rightside... IMO -1.20 ain't too much, but it all depends on your driving style. I'm not sure about the pros/cons of having camber so different left to right, maybe someone more knowledgable could help there. My advice would be, if it feels alright handling wise, then drive it around, and just keep an eye on tire wear. Mine is running approx. -2 on left, and -1.3 on right, and seems to be wearing well. But I have a tendency to go for highspeed drives thorugh very twisty roads...

thanks for the replies.
Steady ed yeah the car feels good handling wise but uglybob the tryes come no where near the guards, i know on my laser i had to get the guards lipped so the tyres don't srub, but hey i'm getting 17'' on saturday see if their is a problem then..

the issues wasn't on the guards (lol although it is an issue!) they were scrubbing out on the inside of the tyre - down to the steel belt on my 15's when the outside of the tyre still hade more than 50% tread!
it wasn't poor wheel aligment or anything, it was due to a lack of camber kit!

Technically it's not actually scrubbing out.
With negative camber, the more you run, the less contact patch there is on the road when driving straight. Therefore increasing wear there. Scrubbing is usally when you run too much toe, or take corners hard, and 'scrub' out the outer edges of your tread. Neg. camber will help prevent the latter.

sorry my bad!!!
I'll see how the 17'' go for a while and make my decision on how much wear i get on the tyres.

hmm sounds like his having a bit of a dig at ya mate..
both sides are only $76 each, thats trade price I think, and they come with enough shims to shim the toe to what ever u like.. I got quoted $228 for them fitted, aligned. |

I managed to pick up a camber/caster rachet type (in other words adjustable without shims) for about $50 at the wreckers.
You might aswell get one cause a normal wheel alignment can't adjust the camber so it wont be the way they've done the alignment. If you want you tyres to last, then i'd get them, especially if you go 17's caues tyres are more $$$. |

it wasn't poor wheel aligment or anything, it was due to a lack of camber kit! my tyres are exactly the same i bought a kit from autobarn $70 a side installed myself pretty easy to do now i just have to get new tyres before the wheel alignment definatly a must do tyres chew out way quick |
