Hey guys, i was thinking at work yesterday after getting off the phone to a suspention specialist, do you kneed a camber kit fitted to an EF/L with supers all round i have the ba 17's in e-series offset, running a tire profile of 235/45-17. Do the e series tend to grab guards when on supers all round or not, because i was told that if i did lower the car i would need the guards rolled.
As for a camber kit i can get one for $250 supplied and fitted with a wheel alignment. Also i have 2 of the pioneer 1000w 12" subs in the boot, enclosed in a dual box would people recomend running supers on the rear or lows, i know about the fronts with taking a step down to what ever you choose on the rears so that isnt a problem just not sure on supers or lows because of weight. i have super lows, with standard shocks, 18x8 rims, i don't hit the gard much, has to be a huge hole to do it. i also have a camber kit, it does help keep your tyres in good nick, ive seen EF-EL's with and without, the ones without always wear on the inner part of the tyre. i had my last set of tyres for two years, so i think it's a good investmant.

Love the way the front end is set up, great to drive and no scrubbing out tyres... |

Get guards rolled definitely otherwise your tyres will be scraped by the guards.

Im running the same rims as you (BA XR8 copies/ E series off set) on a EL Fairmont ghia. Currently running lows all around but are putting in superlows on the front. Already have a camber kit in (shim type) its a must especially when the tyres cost around the $200 mark each. Camber kit in the shim type should cost around $120 for both sides plus installation. Burson's, Repco have them or Google "ringwood auto parts" and buy online.

Thats the one Richard. Ive bought a bit from Rob at Ringwood Auto Parts. Upper and lower trailing arms, harmonic balancer, timing chain kit and front wheel bearings. All alot cheaper than the shops even with trade.

I've got the ford camber/caster kit and superlows in my car, with the GT 17x8.5 rim, when i had 245/40/17 tyres i never noticed any rub on the guards or anything else, now i've got 235/45/17 tyres and one day they un-rolled my passenger side front guard. I very wasn't happy. I had a mate panel beat it in for me, I got him to roll the driver side as well to be safe. I have noticed one time when I was on the brakes really hard and I was turning quite heavy to the right I took a few chunks out of my driver side tyre.
So imo, is it worth getting a camber/caster kit. YES, saves on tyre wear. is it worth getting your guards rolled if you got superlows, YES. especially if you know somebody that can do it properly for you. Another thing to always keep an eye on is the lower control arm bushes. These things wear out and cause all kinds of alignment problems. I know first hand. when they wore out in my car, you couldn't notice because the outside of them was still intact. However they cause my car to toe-in and toe-out 20mm each way. So on the drive home from the Summernats to Melbourne, I DESTROYED the two brand new tyres on the front. Cheers, Jason. |

im lowering my car on superlows with monroe gt shock and a camber kit.
question for the people with there guards rolled. how much did you guys pay to roll your guards???

make sure you stay away from adjustable rachet type camber kit, get the shim type as this will never get knocked out of alignment

For what its worth my setup is as follows:
EBII sedan King Lows (-35mm approx in ride height) Monroe GT gas shocks Nolathane Camber Kit (shim type) Running 15x7" mags with 225/60/15 rubber No rolling of guards Car goes great, handles well and no uneven tyre wear. |
