The other day I was driving my EL and decided to manually change the auto down a gear and realised it wasnt doing anything, it kept going like it was still n Drive. None of the lower gears work at all.
Any ideas on whats going on?

Ur inhibitor switch is cactus. Try cleaning it up " the connections" or get a replacement its on the side of the Gearbox its white. its facing the passenger side.

put ur dash in diagnostic mode. on 8 is the gear position.i bet it reads 0.
when things are reals screwed it will come up with p or r when ur in d and then things rrealy get fun. thats my current problem. will try new switch today.
