Will put them up tonight when I get home. The other thing is I have 19' wheels and the old brakes looked like pie plates inside the rims. The new brakes at least fill out the rims a heap more

They look great. Certainly fill out the rims a lot more. I understand the caliper that UPC use is based on the PBR C5 caliper which uses a larger pad than the C4 but is similar in every other way.
Did you opt for the AU offset hub and wheel and did you change the offset at the rear? I am sure you would be happy with the overall performance improvement from the single piston caliper. BTW Cobra wheel are nice |

Apparently the Calipers with the UPC kit are the same ones they use on VE Commodores - which may also be used on Chevs
I went for the AU offset as I wanted to purchase AU+ Wheels as they will be easier to sell when the time comes as they fit AU BA BF and I think even FG I needed bigger brakes as too many times the std e-series brakes failed on me - they still stopped my car but overheated and were pretty much useless........ havent had that issue with the new brakes and now i can rely on them to stop me in any circumstance. Bet your loving your 330mm kit as well

Yeah the new 330mm kit is awesome as a street performance upgrade. I own the ex-Glenn Seton EL bathurst Falcon which I race in sport sedans category now. It has Harrop brakes and is a good piece of kit.
In terms of engine output vs braking capacity the Cebco upgrade is just as comparable if not better. I pushed my EB round the island on the same day I had my EL out there and whilst the braking distances were longer the consistency of the brakes was equal to the harrops. The C4 caliper provides pretty good clamping pressure and the 330mm rotors dissipate the heat really well. There was no blueing of the discs at all. The red stuff pads showed no signs of fade. Just in relation to the C4 caliper as opposed to yours. the C4 caliper comes off the 84-96 C4 corvette. Where the caliper you are using comes off the 97 -04 C5 Corvette. Which was used on Monaros and Commodores! The difference being the pad depth is greater on the C5 covering more of the rotor face |

This price ($1900) is cheaper than i've heard - I have been told it was closer to $2500.
To clarify, is this Cebco kit the same as the EL GT setup? I thought the EL GT did not run a hub? 2nd, is this a C4 caliper? {DESCRIPTION} Would love some pics of the Cebco setup. Jason

Jason You can use either the EL GT rotor, or use a hub + mustang 330mm slip on disc. Having said I don't know if they still offer the EL GT rotor option? No, that caliper is C5 style. If you have a look at my build thread on boosted, there is a picture of C4 calipers towards the end of the thread.

The prices I paid for the kit are as follows.
Uprights inc bracket $800.00 Hubs $400.00 Calipers $400.00 Rotors $300.00. RDA rotors. I found if you go visit them they do better on the price. I was able to talk them down to this. I was able to also get the stainless brake hoses for an additional $150.00. As I said you can now buy the kit piece by pice so you dont have to outlay all upfront. It is exactly the same upgrade as it is used on all saloon cars for EA/EB and VN/VP commodores. I know the UPC kits are going for about 1500 bucks but all the extra cost of changing wheels and then matching the rear offset made the Cebco option all the better for what I was after. Also with the cebco kit you can later change just the bracket and go for the 4 piston AP caliper. |

I am happy with the wheels I have and hence want to keep e-series offset too.
Interesting the pic is a C5 caliper. The pic is from OED's kit, uses an ELGT rotor. It came from RBS. Do they have the same bolt pattern? Does the C4 suit the mustang floating style setup and C5 ELGT? Wonder why UPC say they can't do an e-series offset hub style kit when RBS can? The thing that puts me off the ELGT style kits is that the pad contact area looks very small compared to the UPC kit. The inner diameter of the contact area is larger in the ELGT kit.

On an earlier post I wrote the calipers both come from corvettes. The C4 from 84-96 and C5 from the 97-05 corvettes. The C5 option is slightly broader than the C4 caliper. As the direction of friction is longitudinal the difference is only marginal as you are using the same size rotor. On the corvettes between the two diferent models they used 12.25 inch rotors for the c4 compared to the 13 inch rotors for the C5. So a combination of bigger rotor and slightly wider pad area provided overall better braking.
With the Cebco kit as i said you can forgo the C4 option and go for the AP racing caliper which is four spot using the same hub rotor setup. This kit goes for about $2500 at race brakes. remenber you can bargain with him. I think overall the difference between the C4 and C5 setup with 330mm rotors would be hard to feel. Also the reason for the hub setup is that the EL GT style rotors are harder and more expensive to get I believe. The RDA rotors for my setup are slotted and cost $300 for the pair. |

Pretty sure Race Brakes Melbourne and Race Brakes Sydney are two seperate entities, I think thats where some confusion is coming from?
Either caliper can suit either, I've seen C5 calipers on EL GT rotors. The Race Brakes Sydney kit is different from the Cebco style kit that Race Brakes Melbourne sell obviously in that it uses the later C5 caliper. The bolt patterns are different, C5 caliper bolt spacing is a bit further apart, it's a larger caliper.

Correct you are! Race Brakes Sydney have their own kit and they are separate to the melbourne crew.

So.. is this summary correct?
UPC - Hub Style, Mustang rotor, C5 caliper, $1000-$1500, AU offset (or close to) RBS - Hub-in-disc, EL GT Rotor, C5 caliper, $2500, std offset RBM - Hub Style, Mustang rotor, C4 caliper, $1900, std offset Sounds like I want a kit with the UPC price, RBM hub/offset/disc and RBS caliper

The issue with the UPC whilst it is better price and good product it is not standard offset. It actually runs AU offset requiring you to change wheels and tyres. That equals more dollars.

Unless you already had AU rims with adapters. Plus a 330mm kit requires a 17in rim minimum, so for the guys with FTR's and thesmaller, they need the bigger rims for the brake upgrade.
