28 spline axles won't fit into a 25 spline centre....the hole where the axles goes is smaller.

The holes in the sides of the 25 slpine centre are TOO SMALL for a 28 spline axle to fit in. The side bearings are different because of this too......but have the same outer diameter. An LSD does have side gears....it wouldn't work without them.

i might just have to stop being lazy and pull apart my 25 spline diff and 28 spline and compare

OK....I now have pictures to show what I mean. The 28 spline axle won't fit into a 25 spline centre.
In the pictures are a 25 spline 2 pinion LSD ( EA ), a 28 spline 4 pinion single legger ( EBII ), and a 28 spline 4 pinion LSD ( new ED/EF ). I am building a 28 spline 4 pinion LSD diff, using 3.27 gears, and EBII housing to put into my ED sedan.
