hey all,
not very familar with doing this, so thought i'd see what else i need to do the conversion. I have a au 3.45 LSD to replaced my current au 3.08 singe spinner diff. I am also using the tickford computer, and the drive shaft as its brand new! is there anything i need to use or buy to make my speedo read correctly? I'm also using the tickford speedo. Any help on this would be much appreciated thankyou

There's a tech doco on this, you'll either need a speed sender gear to suit, or a jaycar speedo corrector.

it goes on the speedo sender which is in the side of the extension housing of the gearbox, 1 small bolt holds it in..

Not a stupid question at all mate, I didn't know how to get to it until I read the tech document. Everyone has to start somewhere, and asking questions on the forum is how you learn. Unfortunately, some people on here seem to forget that...

Thanks mate, Yeah I usually just do/work on the usual, head + cam, custom intake, exhaust and stereo/interior side if things, but got a donor car to put parts on and was told the speedo won't read right and etc so was tossing up whether I should or not as I originally had a mini spool but they get annoying !

The legality and potential damage to your other components should be enough to sway you away from a spool anyway. If its a paddock bomb, or strictly for (off street ) fun then okay, but of the people I know, those that want/have mini spools are the type to attract extra police attention from their driving anyway. When you're cruising around in something defectable you don't want that at all.

Yeah I was never convinced on them but got one fitted for $130 so thought I'd try it for a bit, hence why I'm changing my trans as well cause its snapped a band, though they are fun (off street) the potential damage they cause is just an annoyance. And I only ever had reverse when it wanted to have it!

Yeah I've been told that going smaller or larger than what factory spec can affect the speedo, though I've had 15", 16", 18" and 20" and the speedo read correctly on all of the sizes, was never over the speed limit, I think it was only 2kms out for the 15"

Usually a larger wheel comes with a smaller tyre, so the rolling diameter is the same. Gab |
