i have heard that the automatic gearbox in the BA XT has about three modes it can operate in does anyone know how to change between these 'modes'.

have heard that it has something to do with moving the ignition key and gearbox in a certain pattern.

thanks for any help!!

I've never heard of anything to do with the ignition key. As far as the three modes, are you thinking of normal drive, move the lever to the left for performance mode then the tiptronic mode when you change it manually?

those are the three. drive for normal, flick over and thats like the 'power' button and pull and push for triptronic. to bring it back out of triptronic to 'power' mode go to drive then back over again

i'm not sure how reliable the information is however. i'm definatly not thinking about the adaptive, performance and manual mode its completely different in that it tells the ecu to manage the gears in a completely different pattern in all three modes

The AU XRs needed a special procedure to change from ADP to Performance to Economy .... the B-series vehicles is exactly what fiftyone quoted.

It's a bugger when in full manual mode and you want to go back to AUTO PEF mode ... but that's just a tiny inconvenience.
