where abouts is the drain plug and fill point? cant seem to have any luck on finding one. its a tremec t5 also. do i have to fill it from some sealed area? like the au autos being a sealed unit? under the shifter looks the most likely point at the moment.

Well on a standard T5, the drain plug should be on the drivers side. Should be near the catalytic converter somewhere. Fill plug is above the drain plug and a couple of centimeters forwards. Use a oil pump to fill top it up until it overflows, or use a long tube run it up to the engine bay and hold it up while you pour the oil down it.

Don't forget the additive as well to improve shifts and reduce friction. It puts a coating on all the parts. What oil are you going to use?

crickeys, Ive just been to bursons to pick up some gearbox oil, and the prices staggered me. I went straight for the transmax Z, and then straight away again. $86 for 4 litres? thats insane. The redline MT-90 was $150 for 3.9L. so I opted for the penrite 75w80 thats recomended by the books for the t5 and t56 manuals. thats $31 for 2.5 litres. I figure if I stuff something up, id rather do it on cheap oil than on $150 worth of redline. Ill probably run it on the penrite for a bit and if it doesnt feel any good, ill replace it with the more expensive stuff.
