IIRC the housing for a 2.77 wont accept the gears from a lower ratio diff
as for sources..... utes/vans and 5 speed manuals are the best starting point

G'day
The housings are no different, but you need to change all the internals over. As far as i know you can put any diff internals from anything up to eb in an xf housing. I'm looking at doing this atm because my 2.77 lsd is on the way out. Cheers

nope. try to get ur hands on a 2.92, 3.08, 3.23, 3.27 or a 3.45 LSD centre.
apparently someone makes a spacer plate so you can use the 2.77 centre with the lower ratios. The reason that the centres are different for 2.77's is in order to make a a*** with a 2.77:1 ratio, the size of the pinion had to be increased, which also meant that the crownwheel had to be offset further to one side. If you cant find a decent falcon diff, try getting a limo centre out of a atmo VL. atmo VL 25 spline. TurboVL 28 spline. EA-ED 25 spline. EF-EL 28 spline. VN onwards 28 spline.

thanks for that, though i have the crownwhel and pinion a*** in 3.23 ratio so does that solve the problem of the 2.77 pinion being too big? if i use the 3.23 pinion?
