hey i've got a 92 non ABS EB and just about to get some DBA slotted rotors fitted..
Is changing the rotors easy, like take off.. then put the new ones on?? i read something about break socks as well but just dont have a clue aye.
oh and also ive got about 50% worn brake pads would i still be able to use those for a little while more or wat other brake pads go well with slotted? i was thinking bendix, heard good stuff about them!

yea by the way i dunno if i'm just search retarded but my results always come up as random crap thats got nothing to do with what i searched for!

I would probably replace the wheel bearings and new pads and fluid.

Its reasonably easy if you know what you're doing, but otherwise its a bit of a task. Definately put new pads with new rotors, and if your bearing havent been done recently, it may be an idea to chuck some new ones in as well.

Theres one big flat nut that holds the rotor on, and the bearings in place. it needs to be tightened, but not tight, as there still has to be movement or you'll cease a bearing or something. Would be a good idea to get someone to help you with the fronts for sure. The rears arent so difficult but, as the disc is seperate to the axle

so just like a little tug once it gets tight or leave it once it feels firm?

Heh, might be an idea. :D Its hard to explain, but there should be the slightest of movement, and the wheel should spin freely. Definately get help the first time!

My DBA slotted rotors came with instructions on how to tighten the wheel bearing nut up. Explains it far better than I can.

New Pads for sure.
I inspected my bearings then repacked with new grease and reinstalled them.

Likewise, mine were fine.
Changing the rotors wasn't hard at all on the front, yet to try the rear, will do that at the same time as changing the diff.

Rear are simple as. Remove the wheel, remove the caliper, undo one screw holding on the disc, and then pull it off. Simple i say!

thats one thing i love about the falcons specialy the e series that anything needs to be done its simple like the front rotors caliper off one nut and the whole disc comes off, simple. same as doing the diff half an hour and its out.

well i just got the slotted rotors and im about to fit them today hopefully..

mate i did mine a few months back wasnt hard at all ,i only did the fronts tho,i got new front slotted rotors ,bearings,and bendix advance pads for $320 del from hitek brakes there on this site .just take the caliper off and undo the nut in the hub pretty easy it all came with info on how to do it anyway

the amount of movement (dial out) is there to knock the pads off after brakeing. you won't notice it by feel. you need a dial out guage if you want to do it by the book. otherwise keep doing it up until you can't feel any play. shouldn't be much more than finger tight. maybe half a turn once you've gone as far as you can by hand.

definately new pads and bed them in properly or your new discs will need machining.

and for the sake of a few dollars i would def put new bearings in while you have them off.

I too am in this boat.

Got new DBA Slotted Rotors (EL Fairmont), and new pads.

Where to wheel bearings from? Ford - 1 min walk from work... or somewhere else?

recommendations? - and pricing?

Basically anyhwere. Places like coventrys would do it, or ford should sell you a kit, or any bearing specialist id say. Even places like supercheap and repco
