hey ladies and gents!

have a prob with my EB Falcon Auto. I only bought it a few days ago so am not quite used to it yet, but I drove it for about an hour and noticed the "Check A.B.S." warning light was on the whole time. I figured it can't matter that much as long as I dont break too hard all of a sudden, but when I got home I could smell the brakes really bad. Im hoping im not doing any more damage to my car so if anyone could tell me what I should check then the help would be much appreciated.
thanks

edit: also I dont have an owners manual for the car so I cant look it up there.

first to check is the fuse in the engine compartment (near water tank), i blew that in my old wagon and "check abs" came on and breaks went rather smokei smelly.

why did both of your cars brakes come on (why were they smokey/smelly)????

The only thing i can think of is that FORD put a safety device in, that activates when ABS fails, that is, it puts the brakes on when ABS fails

If abs system looses power it turns into a non abs systemand works the same as a non abs vehicle :D

give it a try (pull out the fuse), brakes did not work to well (they were shagged anyway) meh just thought itdd be a good place to look first.

smoking brakes can also be caused by the lines being squeezed/crimped

could that be caused by the ABS pump not being in full operation?

hmmm ignore that last post, just checked in the manual again and found a list of things to check before going to a Ford Dealer.

a. Check brake fluid in the reservoir.
b. Verify that the ECU is securely connected.
c. Check the electrical connectors at the hydraulic modulator.
d. Check the fuses
e. Follow the wiring harness to each wheel, check for wire damage and that all connections are secure.

thanks anyway for the help guys! :)
